At Newport Academy, teens find more than treatment—they find structure, connection, and support in a setting designed just for them. With gender-specific homes, integrated academics, and hands-on therapies, the program helps young people rebuild stability and confidence at a critical time in their lives.
811 North Ranch Wood Trail , Orange, CA 92869 Directions
Specifically designed for teens ages 12–18, the program offers gender-specific residential care tailored to this pivotal stage of development. With peers facing similar challenges and a structure designed for youth, the program provides a safe, supportive space to address mental health and substance use concerns—including depression, anxiety, trauma, eating disorders, and self-harm. Treatment draws on evidence-based approaches such and family-focused therapies, helping teens build emotional insight and stability.
While interrupting school for treatment can be a major concern for families, Newport Academy incorporates fully accredited academics into each teen’s daily schedule. Students receive individualized academic support to stay on track with coursework and reduce school-related stress. This continuity helps ease the transition back to the classroom. Family therapy is also central to the program, with structured sessions and consistent communication that strengthen trust and support healing at home.
Experiential therapies incorporate art, music, yoga, equine therapy, culinary workshops, and outdoor activities like rock climbing and hiking. These offerings do more than fill time—they provide teens with meaningful ways to express themselves, connect with others, and regulate emotions. By engaging both body and mind, these therapies help young people process difficult experiences, build confidence, and experience joy and mastery—key foundations for long-term recovery and reintegration into daily life.
Feedback from families and former clients paints a mixed picture. Many describe their experience at Newport Academy as life-changing, particularly highlighting compassionate staff, emotional growth, and recovery from serious issues like self-harm and severe anxiety. Others raise concerns about inconsistency in care, citing issues with hygiene, communication, or feeling pushed into treatment tracks that didn’t fit their needs. The reviews suggest that while Newport can be transformative for some, outcomes may depend on individual fit and expectations.
