Insight Program
Overview
Intensive outpatient (IOP) substance use and co-occurring mental health care for teens and young adults with weekly peer support groups. Dedicated, age-adapted IOPs are offered for adolescents ages 13-17 and young adults ages 18-25. Care is centered around an “enthusiastic sobriety” approach which aims to replace substance use with enjoyable peer activities. Clients attend weekly support groups with 12-step integration and enjoy weekend sober social events. Support groups are also held for parents once a week. The center provides free substance use evaluations to help determine appropriate treatment needs. Insight Program Charlotte accepts private insurance and self-pay.

Specialized care for teens and young adults
Programs are customized to fit the developmental needs and hurdles of each age group. Distinct IOPs are offered for adolescents and young adults so clients can experience recovery alongside peers who can relate to what they are going through. At the start of treatment, staff work closely with clients to adapt treatment to fit their unique requirements and goals. This can include factors such as improving communication, rebuilding relationships, and nurturing self-esteem.
12-step support and sober social events
Teens and young adults are introduced to 12-step principles and long-term community support groups. Not only can these meetings start clients on a long-term recovery path, they can meet others who will provide them with mutual accountability and meaningful connections. On Friday and Saturday nights, staff lead sober social events such as themed dances, movie nights, sports, and talent shows. This approach creates opportunities for youth to enjoy themselves in a substance-free environment.
Active family integration
Family members can be involved in treatment through dedicated therapy sessions and weekly parent support groups. Guided by counselors, family sessions are designed to help loved ones work on healthier communication, receive education on substance use and mental health, and improve interpersonal dynamics at home. Parent support groups give caregivers a chance to find their own long-term community of like-minded peers.
Aftercare
Once clients graduate from an IOP program, they can participate in up to three months of aftercare. This includes biweekly support meetings, weekly counseling, two 12-step meetings per week, and two weekly sober social events sponsored by staff. Counselors can also help youth create individually adapted plans to encourage success in long-term recovery.
Pre-admissions experience
We conducted a series of pre-admissions calls, the most recent on July 8, 2026, to evaluate response time, transparency, and patient experience.
When we reached out to the Insight Program, the admissions team was knowledgeable and provided detailed information. They walked us through programs, step-down transitions, and treatment expectations. The conversation felt warm and professional, with clear explanations around cost and client involvement.
