Integrated Outpatient Care for Substance Use and Mental Health

WellSpan Philhaven – Edgar Square provides outpatient services for adults managing substance use alongside mental health conditions like depression, PTSD, anxiety, and bipolar disorder. Clients receive individual, group, and family therapy, supported by evidence-based practices like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and trauma-focused counseling. Services are designed to help people stabilize, develop healthy coping strategies, and maintain progress without leaving their communities.

Medications for Addiction Treatment and Psychiatric Support

The clinic offers medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD), including buprenorphine and extended-release naltrexone, as well as medications for alcohol use disorder. Clients with co-occurring conditions can access psychiatric medication management, either through on-site services or in coordination with their existing providers, offering flexibility for those navigating multiple care systems.

A Commitment to Inclusive, Trauma-Informed Care

Edgar Square is known for its intentional focus on inclusivity and psychological safety. Intake materials accommodate gender identity and pronouns, and all-gender restrooms are available on-site. Staff are trained in culturally responsive care and trauma-informed approaches, and services are offered in both English and Spanish, with American Sign Language (ASL) support available.

Peer Support and Practical Recovery Tools

Beyond clinical therapy, clients can engage with peer mentors and recovery coaches, many of whom bring lived experience to their roles. Staff assist clients with accessing housing referrals, transportation services, employment supports, and legal advocacy, helping reduce common barriers to care. Naloxone training and education are also available.

Flexible, Community-Connected Treatment

As part of the broader WellSpan Health network, this location connects clients to a larger continuum of care across south-central Pennsylvania. Though detox and residential services are not available on-site, referrals can be made to appropriate providers. Aftercare coordination and follow-up support help clients sustain momentum beyond the outpatient setting.
