A Boutique Recovery Experience Without Leaving the City
Nestled in Brooklyn's Red Hook neighborhood, the facility offers a distinctive blend of urban convenience and tranquil retreat. Private and shared rooms, many with ensuite bathrooms, provide a comfortable and discreet environment. The rooftop lounge offers panoramic views of the Statue of Liberty and New York Bay. This serene setting allows clients to begin their recovery journey without leaving the city they call home, maintaining a sense of normalcy and connection to their daily lives allows patients to begin recovery in a space that feels and removed from the noise of daily life without leaving the boroughs.
Connecting Body, Mind, and Next Steps
The program goes beyond individual and group therapy, mindfulness practices, and 12-Step-based discussion groups, but also focuses on nutrition, sleep, and body awareness to help clients reconnect with their physical health. From the moment someone is admitted, a case manager works with them to plan their next steps—whether that’s outpatient care, sober housing, or longer-term residential treatment—so they leave with a clear plan, not just a discharge form.
A Low-Stimulation Experience That Respects Privacy
Not everyone is comfortable with the group-heavy or institutional feel of traditional rehab. This facility is designed for those who need both a calming and structured environment that is intentionally low-stimulation: respectful staff, limited roommate exposure, and quiet common areas help reduce anxiety and overstimulation.
Patient Reviews
Experiences at Urban Recovery vary. Many former clients describe supportive staff, transformative peer groups, and an atmosphere that feels both safe and empowering. Others have reported concerns about cleanliness, medication delays, or inconsistent communication. These mixed reviews suggest that while the facility offers meaningful help to many, some patients encounter operational challenges. Transparency around these experiences may help prospective clients set expectations and ask informed questions.
- Brooklyn location provides excellent rooftop views of the Statue of Liberty and New York Bay, which is home to several daily rooftop walks, should weather allow.
- The newer facility features a modern, hotel-like design with laundry service and shared rooms.
- While clients’ phones and computers are not permitted, iPads and the recreation room provide entertainment during a client’s stay.
Intensive Residential Treatment Program
- Following detox, clients can begin the short-term residential treatment program, typically a 21-28 day program, though length of stay depends on clients’ unique needs and goals.
- Treatment plans include 35 hours of treatment per week, with group counseling and 1 hour of individual counseling spread throughout the week.
- Clients receive around-the-clock care and may receive medication for addiction treatment (MAT).
- Aftercare planning begins on day one of treatment, during which clients work with staff to develop a fully customized discharge plan.
Patient Feedback
- Positive reviews praising the supportive, knowledgeable staff.
- Patients also appreciate the safe environment and caring atmosphere we provide: I highly recommend Urban Recovery. I came here at a very low point in my life. The first thing about them is I felt so safe. I was blown away by the care they displayed.. The rooftop views are therapeutic and calming. I recall going there very often to retreat during recovery. A great place for full recovery. I highly recommend!
