One of the Nation’s Largest Psychiatric Hospitals

UofL Health – Peace Hospital is a nonprofit psychiatric facility that provides a full range of behavioral health and substance use services for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. The hospital offers inpatient psychiatric stabilization, medical detox, and step-down services through partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient programs (IOP). Care is trauma-informed and integrates evidence-based therapies and psychiatric support.

Youth-Focused Programming with National Reach

The Kosair for Kids Children’s Peace Center, housed within the hospital, is the largest private provider of inpatient behavioral health services for youth in the U.S. Programs are designed for children and teens experiencing severe emotional distress, suicidal ideation, trauma, ADHD, depression, and co-occurring substance use. The Innovations Program supports youth with intellectual or developmental disabilities and acute behavioral needs. Crossroads, a partial hospitalization track, offers structured therapeutic and academic support for school-age children and teens navigating mental health or substance-related challenges.

Dual Diagnosis and Medication-Based Support

Peace Hospital offers integrated care for people with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Treatment may include individual and group therapy, medication management, expressive therapies, and access to medications for addiction treatment (MAT), including suboxone, sublocade, and vivitrol. Adult programming is available during the day and evening, with some services accessible via telehealth. Long-acting psychiatric injections are administered through the hospital’s pharmacy-led injection clinic, one of the first of its kind in the region.

24/7 Crisis and Mobile Response

The hospital operates a 24/7 walk-in and mobile assessment service for individuals in psychiatric or substance use crises. Clients are evaluated and connected with appropriate levels of care, including same-day admission when needed. Peace Hospital also coordinates with law enforcement, schools, and community agencies to support crisis intervention and safe stabilization for children and adults.

Recovery Planning and Life Transition Support

Discharge planning begins early in treatment to ensure continuity of care. Clients may access support for housing, employment readiness, and community-based services after discharge. Peace Hospital also offers spiritual counseling, family therapy, and structured group support to foster long-term stability and personal growth.
