Detox and Residential Care

The facility is set in the small village of Augusta, Michigan, on a 300-acre wooded property. This setting provides a private, peaceful environment for recovery. For those who need it, treatment can start in the withdrawal management (detox) phase. Clients receive close medical monitoring to ensure safety, and to keep them as comfortable as possible during the process, with MAT administered when appropriate. Once clients are stabilized, they can move to residential treatment. Care plans are adapted to individual needs and can be adjusted based on progress and any challenges they face along the way. Treatment is provided for co-occurring mental health conditions and concerns.

First Responder Treatment Program

This program is dedicated to first responders including EMS workers, firefighters, police officers, doctors, and nurses. Therapists work with these clients to address the career demands, stresses, and trauma which may contribute to substance use. These can include burnout, hypervigilance, sleep issues, emotional dysregulation, and identity loss. Peers come together to connect and support each other in an understanding environment.

Equine Therapy and Creative Outlets

In this experiential approach, equine therapists guide clients through interactions and bonding experiences with horses. This is designed to help clients process and work through emotional barriers and trust issues, as well as teach accountability. For clients who would benefit from a creative approach to working through their struggles, art therapy is offered to help with self-expression in a way that doesn’t require words.

Evidence-Based Approaches and 12-Step

Proven therapies used by care staff involve cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). Twelve-step meetings are part of the program, introducing clients to a supportive peer community and a place to share without judgment. Participation in 12-step work is optional, so clients can choose what works with their values and goals.

Aftercare Planning

Before clients leave treatment, staff can help them arrange stable housing, help with navigating social services, address legal issues, and connect to recovery coaching and support groups. Relapse prevention and naloxone education are provided to keep clients safe and informed as they transition back to independent living.
