Holistic, Community-Based Recovery in Manhattan

Educational Alliance Inc – Center for Recovery and Wellness / Pride Site Residential Treatment offers a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach to substance use recovery within a vibrant Lower East Side neighborhood. As part of Educational Alliance, a century-old nonprofit dedicated to empowering New Yorkers, the center integrates evidence-based care with real-world supports that help individuals build lasting stability and connection beyond treatment.

Flexible Residential and Outpatient Programs

The PRIDE Site provides licensed residential care with three flexible levels, including stabilization, rehabilitation, and re-integration, allowing clients to progress at their own pace. Outpatient options include intensive day and evening programs, telehealth, and Ambulatory Services, which bring treatment directly into community spaces like shelters, schools, and faith centers. This model meets people where they are, reducing barriers to engagement and ensuring consistent support across care settings.

Evidence-Based and Creative Therapies

Treatment includes individual and group psychotherapy, psychiatric care, and medication management. Clients have access to dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), Seeking Safety (a therapy focused on coping with trauma and substance use), mindfulness-based relapse prevention, and anger management. Creative therapies such as art, music, and writing encourage expression and emotional growth. Medications for addiction treatment (MAT) are available for opioid, alcohol, and tobacco use disorders, including buprenorphine, naltrexone, disulfiram, and nicotine replacement options.

Real-World Support and Connection

Recovery at the Center for Recovery and Wellness extends beyond clinical treatment. Case management, housing navigation, vocational and educational support, and transportation assistance help remove everyday obstacles. Certified Recovery Peer Advocates provide mentorship, while the client-run Clubhouse offers sober social opportunities and community engagement. The center also provides HIV and hepatitis testing, health education, and a Community Food Program distributing free groceries. Services are available in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, and several others common to the local community. Admissions for both residential and outpatient programs require New York State–based Medicaid.
