Homelike Residential Setting for Men

Dakoske Hall is designed to feel like a home, with private and shared rooms, indoor relaxation spaces, and a library/reading room. Gardens, outdoor seating areas, and access to nature give residents places to clear their heads between groups and counseling sessions. Living with other men who are working on similar challenges can make it easier to open up and stay engaged in treatment.

Trauma-Informed, Evidence-Based Care

Care is both evidence-based and trauma-informed. Over a typical 28-day stay, residents explore the factors contributing to their substance use and any co-occurring mental health concerns. Services can include individual, group, and family counseling, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, anger management, relapse prevention, and 12-step work. This mix is designed to help men understand patterns, manage emotions, and begin repairing relationships that may have been affected by substance use.

Medications for Addiction Treatment and Mental Health

For men who may benefit from medications, Dakoske Hall can incorporate medications for addiction treatment (MAT) and mental health care into the residential program. The program can also work with outside prescribers when clients are already taking medication, helping reduce disruption to care.

Skills Training and Employment Counseling

A key focus of Dakoske Hall is preparing men for life after residential care. Alongside therapy, clients participate in skill-building, emotional management, relationship-building, and relapse prevention work. The program offers vocational training or educational support, employment counseling, and help with social skills, which can support a return to work or school. Housing services, assistance with obtaining social services, and transportation support help address practical barriers that often make it harder to stay in recovery.

Community, Safety, and Ongoing Support

Men have access to self-help groups, gender-specific groups, recovery coaching, and peer mentoring to strengthen their support network. Health education covers topics like substance use, HIV and hepatitis, and tobacco cessation. The program also provides suicide prevention services, naloxone and overdose education, and follow-up after discharge. These supports are intended to help residents stay connected, safer, and better prepared as they transition back into their communities.
