Women’s Transitional Housing

The center offers a supportive transitional living program for women who are rebuilding their lives after substance use treatment. As part of the Gibson Center for Behavioral Change, Vision House provides a safe environment where clients can stabilize, regain confidence, and strengthen daily routines. The program helps women bridge the gap between intensive residential treatment and independent living, providing the structure needed to stay accountable while allowing greater freedom to reconnect with family and prepare for long-term recovery.

Trauma-Informed Counseling and Relapse Prevention

Each client receives counseling adapted to her goals and experiences. Individual and group therapy sessions focus on understanding triggers, improving emotional regulation, and developing healthy coping strategies. Trauma-informed care and gender-specific therapy address the root causes of addiction in a safe and respectful space. Relapse prevention education is woven into daily routines, helping women identify warning signs early and use practiced skills to stay on track.

Life Skills Training and Employment Readiness

Daily life at Vision House emphasizes practical skill-building. Clients participate in workshops that focus on communication, problem-solving, budgeting, nutrition, and self-care. Employment counseling and job readiness support including résumé preparation, interview skills, and goal setting help women prepare to reenter the workforce. Women also receive mentoring and access to community partnerships. The goal is for each woman to leave the program with tools to maintain sobriety and sustain meaningful progress in daily life.

Community Resources and Ongoing Support

Staff can help connect clients to vital community resources, including housing assistance, social services, and peer mentoring programs. Staff also provide overdose education, naloxone distribution, and guidance for maintaining a safe recovery environment. Transitional services include discharge planning and continuing care to ensure that support remains in place after clients move on. Transportation assistance is offered to help women access appointments, employment, and necessary services.
