What to expect

Developing your care plan

  • Treatment adapted for specific conditions: Care is provided for a myriad of eating disorders and related conditions, including but not limited to anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, body dysmorphic disorder, and compulsive exercise.
  • Co-occurring mental health: Clients receive treatment for mental health conditions that may accompany eating disorders. This includes underlying trauma and self-harm behaviors.
  • Client collaboration: Once clients are assessed, they work with clinicians to develop a treatment plan adapted to their needs. Plans can include meal support strategies, medications when needed, exercise recommendations, and emotional support.
  • Clinician coordination: The multidisciplinary team meets every week to discuss client progress and make adjustments to treatment plans as needed.

Who you will meet with

  • Therapists: Meet with residential clients three times per week, following evidence-based, trauma-informed methods.
  • Psychiatrists: Sit down with residential clients once a week to address primary eating disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
  • Dieticians: Residential clients meet with a dietician weekly to discuss their progress. They also receive frequent meal support throughout their residential stay.
  • Exercise physiologists: Help clients develop healthy exercise habits and achieve personal goals, as per their individual treatment plans.
  • Doctors: There to support clients’ health needs throughout their stay.

Typical schedule

  • Residential treatment: Clients receive 24/7 supervision, as well as meal monitoring, nutrition support, and medical oversight. Days consist of group therapy, psychological education, and experiential activities such as art therapy and outings.
  • Partial hospitalization program (PHP): For those who are medically stable but still need intensive daily structure, PHP has programming for up to six hours each day, up to seven days a week.
  • Intensive outpatient program (IOP): In this next step-down level after PHP, clients participate in programming several days a week, allowing them to reintegrate work, school, athletics, and other aspects of independent living back into their routines.

Living experiences and amenities

  • Age-specific, gender-specific accommodations: Adult and adolescent clients stay in separate, gender-specific residences, and share rooms with at least one other person.
  • Holistic and experiential activities: Along with evidence-based, trauma-informed therapy, clients can participate in yoga, art and music therapy, outdoor adventures, and animal-assisted therapy.
  • Flexible tech policy: During downtime, personal smartphones and other devices are allowed.
  • Daily visitation: Loved ones can visit clients every day. Monday through Friday visitation is from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. On Saturdays and Sundays, visiting hours are from 3:45 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Aftercare

  • Transitional housing: For clients who complete IOP but still need further support before fully immersing back into their home environment, transitional housing is available.
  • Discharge planning and alumni support: Clients meet with discharge planners every week to make sure they are prepared for next steps. After leaving the program, former clients and their family members can get together for alumni meetings.
