Developing your care plan

• Services matched to veterans’ needs: Multiple approaches to care are offered, including counseling, group therapy, and medication. Services can be accessed without a referral, and walk-in and virtual options may be available.
• Substantial assessment process: The first step is a thorough evaluation that includes comprehensive substance use and mental health assessments, a medical history, a physical exam, and screening for substance use, mental disorders, and tobacco use. Depending on needs, testing for HIV, sexually transmitted infections, tuberculosis, and hepatitis B and C is available.
