Support for mothers and children

Clients can work on their recovery while staying involved in their children's daily lives. Daycare for children up to age 12 takes place in the same building as treatment sessions, allowing mothers to see their children during breaks. The program also provides time for visits that are arranged through the Division of Family Services. Practical skills such as parenting classes, child development education, and car-seat safety instruction may be available as well.

Help with everyday needs

Staff support clients by connecting them to housing resources, employment and educational opportunities, legal assistance, and healthcare. Clients may also work with community support specialists who help them access clothing and other basic necessities. These services are intended to address practical challenges alongside treatment goals to help clients gain greater stability and independence.

Treatment for women on probation or parole

Alt-Care supports women ages 18 and older who are referred through Missouri state probation or parole. The program takes about a year to complete, and officers meet clients at the facility site. Clients move through three levels of care that begin with treatment from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. This gradually tapers down to one day per week from 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.

Substance use and mental health care

Treatment supports clients with substance use and mental health concerns through individual therapy, educational and counseling groups, nursing, peer support, and psychiatric services. Sessions may cover trauma, relationship patterns, self-esteem, and personal goals. Alt-Care may also offer medications for addiction treatment (MAT), including naltrexone and buprenorphine.

Available levels of care

Available levels of care may include residential treatment, PHP, IOP, and standard outpatient services. The Women and Children Program offers residential treatment and IOP.

Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities

How we research treatment facilities

Across the site, our team has conducted over 1,000 pre-admissions calls to better understand the patient experience, interviewed facility clinical leaders, performed facility background checks, and compared our information against trusted public data sources.

Our research process begins with data from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), accrediting bodies including The Joint Commission and CARF, government licensing agencies, and other trusted sources. From there, our team conducts significant original research, including:

- Pre-admissions calls: We speak with admissions staff to get a candid picture of patient experience.

- Background checks: We review complaints from past clients, media reports, actions taken by accrediting bodies, and positive recognition from notable organizations.

- Clinical interviews: We have in-depth conversations with clinical leadership, often lasting up to one hour, that give us a better understanding of clinical care.

- Data partnerships: We ingest and analyze exclusive data that provides information about in-network insurance status, cost, and more.

Research varies by facility. Each facility profile shows which research steps we completed and when each step was last performed. Learn more about our research process and background checks.

How we evaluate treatment facilities

These data help us develop a Trust Score for each facility—a simple letter grade that helps you assess how much confidence to place in a facility based on the information available to us. Trust Score considers accreditation, operating history, notable recognition, and concerns identified during our background check. Our Trust Score is an objective rating that is never influenced by advertiser payment. Learn more about our Trust Score methodology.

A Trust Score is a starting point, not a guarantee of treatment quality or outcomes. Please contact us if you would like to update or correct facility information.
