Voluntary, Medically Monitored Inpatient Care

SSTAR – Short Term Inpatient Rehabilitation provides round-the-clock residential care for adults who need medically monitored detoxification or short-term inpatient stabilization. Located at SSTAR’s Stanley Street campus in Fall River, the program serves individuals experiencing acute withdrawal from alcohol, opioids, or benzodiazepines, as well as those who need structured inpatient support before continuing treatment elsewhere.

Clear Pathways Through Detox and Stabilization

Inpatient care includes two coordinated service tracks. Acute Treatment Services (ATS) focuses on managing withdrawal symptoms and medical stabilization. Clinical Stabilization Services (CSS) serves as a step-down option for individuals who no longer require detox but benefit from continued inpatient structure and clinical support. Together, these programs help people move from crisis toward readiness for longer-term care.

Onsite Medical Oversight and Medication Support

Care is delivered by a multidisciplinary team that includes nursing staff and access to a nurse practitioner or physician who oversees medical protocols and addresses health concerns. Medications for addiction treatment (MAT) may be prescribed and managed onsite during detox and stabilization, with education provided so patients understand their options as they plan next steps in recovery.

Counseling and Support for Co-Occurring Needs

In addition to medical care, the program offers individual and group counseling, educational sessions, and motivational groups. Treatment approaches include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, substance use disorder counseling, and 12-step facilitation. Services are available for adults with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders, with support for a range of populations served by SSTAR.

Coordinated Transitions and Access to Aftercare

A central focus of the program is helping patients transition smoothly into ongoing care after discharge. Case management and discharge planning support connections to aftercare, longer-term residential programs, sober housing, and community-based services. Transportation assistance may be available for aftercare placement interviews and medical appointments. Pregnant individuals receiving opioid-related care are supported through coordinated case management to help ensure timely access to obstetrical services.
