Long-term, Peer-Supported Recovery for Men

Gavin House, part of the nonprofit Gavin Foundation, Gavin House provides a six-month residential recovery program designed for adult men rebuilding their lives after substance use. Grounded in 12-step principles, the program combines peer support, daily structure, and evidence-based therapies. Residents live in a communal, home-like setting and are expected to work or seek employment as part of a dedicated focus on restoring dignity and stability. The program helps men stay connected, accountable, and prepared for life beyond treatment.

Structured Daily Living in a Focused Environment

The house’s mission focuses on long-term, community-oriented care. Accommodating up to 36 residents at a time, the program integrates relapse prevention, individual and group therapy, and telehealth services as appropriate. Residents are supported by licensed staff and peer mentors while building healthy routines and recovery-focused habits.

Alumni Involvement and Community Care

A key strength of the program is its commitment to long-term recovery through alumni involvement and continuing care. Graduates often return to the house for weekly dinners, support groups, and volunteer opportunities. The program also connects clients to recovery coaching, housing resources, employment training, and social services. Residents benefit from structured discharge planning, naloxone education, and follow-up support. Specialized care is available for men with co-occurring mental health conditions, trauma histories, and HIV/AIDS.

Inclusive and Accessible Program

The house welcomes men of all backgrounds, including young adults, seniors, veterans, and justice-involved individuals. The facility offers sign language services, Spanish language support, and allows smoking or vaping in designated areas. Although it does not provide detox or outpatient services, it accepts clients already prescribed medications for addiction treatment (MAT) like naltrexone for alcohol or opioid use disorder through external providers.

Client Reviews

Clients often describe the Gavin Foundation as a life-changing place, with many sharing that it played a central role in their long-term recovery. The supportive peer environment, sense of community, and dedication of the staff are frequently highlighted.
