Soothing Mountain Environment with Adventure Therapy
The location of men’s and women’s residences in the Arizona highlands plays a central role in the treatment approach. Clients participate in outdoor activities including hiking, backpacking, and ropes courses. Group outings are offered twice a week, with activities such as walks in the park and various weekend activities. These activities are integrated parts of therapy that help build confidence, resilience, teamwork, and coping skills.
Accredited Dual-Diagnosis Care
The treatment approach includes accredited dual-diagnosis care rooted in trauma-informed, evidence-based practices. Clients with co-occurring conditions, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, or mood disorders, receive mental health care alongside substance use treatment. Care is also available for dual-diagnosis chronic pain, codependency challenges, and HIV/AIDS. The program includes medications for addiction treatment (MAT) and supports clients who arrive already stabilized on these medications.
12-Step and Alternative Recovery Paths
The center incorporates 12-step facilitation into treatment plans, offering clients structured engagement with traditional recovery principles. For those seeking alternatives, the facility also provides peer-led groups and individual counseling rooted in evidence-based approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing. While 12-step meetings are available, participation is not mandatory. This allows clients to explore recovery paths that align with their values and needs.
Veterans Addiction Program
The Veterans Addiction Program addresses the complex interplay of trauma, addiction, and mental health unique to military service. The program includes trauma-informed therapy, peer support from fellow veterans, and clinical care as needed. Staff trained in military culture create a supportive environment where veterans can process combat-related experiences, make connections with others, and transition toward stable, meaningful civilian life.
Focused Support for Long-Term Recovery
Care staff work to prepare clients for life after treatment through life skills training and ongoing peer support. Clients engage in workshops focused on budgeting, communication, and conflict resolution, alongside job training and educational planning when appropriate. Peer-led recovery groups and alumni involvement provide encouragement and a sense of accountability. These elements work together to equip clients with the practical tools and networks needed to sustain recovery.
What Clients Say
Decision Point receives consistent praise for its committed staff and lasting impact. Clients describe the adventure therapy as powerful and the group work as transformative. Alumni often stay connected, crediting the program with saving or reshaping their lives. While a few reviews note concerns about management or policies, the majority highlight a positive and life-changing experience.
