Who is this facility a good fit for?

  • Best fit if: Adults with substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions; looking for ongoing structured support after residential treatment; wanting more structure than standard outpatient care; needing morning or evening scheduling to accommodate work or other responsibilities; seeking support for rebuilding after returning to substance use; seeking practical assistance in addition to therapy.

  • Not a fit if: Adults looking for residential treatment or needing on-site withdrawal management (detox).

What to expect

Developing your care plan

  • Initial steps: The first step is an intake assessment with the director of admissions. The client then meets with their primary therapist for another assessment, which will help determine whether the 3 or 5 day IOP is a better fit. Clients can also receive a tour of the facility at this meeting.
  • Treatment considerations: Treatment frequency also takes the client’s current work and life schedule into account to help them balance their clinical needs and practical responsibilities.
  • Reassessment: Care plans are reassessed after 30 days, at which point the team decides if the client is ready to step down in intensity.

Who you will meet with

  • Therapist: Therapists on staff are dually licensed in substance use and mental health. Therapists lead group therapy sessions, and clients meet with their individual therapist once a week.
  • Medical doctor: A medical doctor is on-site 2 days a week.
  • Case managers: A case manager is on-site 5 days a week, helping clients find support for practical needs, including coordination with housing, SNAP benefits, job placement, and sober living referrals.

Typical schedule

  • Intensive outpatient program: Clients attend either a daytime or evening IOP. The daytime option is 5 days, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to around noon. Evening programming is 3 days, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m.
  • Programming: Programming includes therapeutic groups, psychoeducation, and relapse prevention, and clients meet with their individual therapist once a week.

Living experiences and amenities

  • Flexibility: The scheduling options for the IOP allow for flexibility in accessing treatment while clients continue to live at home or in a community setting.
  • An emphasis on case management: Case managers are on-site 5 days a week to help clients address practical issues affecting stability.

Aftercare

  • A strong emphasis on transition planning: Case workers help clients prepare for home life, employment, and other real-world responsibilities as they progress through treatment.
  • Ongoing support: Continuing care is available in the form of guidance, referrals, and check-ins.
  • Care plan reassessment: After 30 days, the team reassesses treatment plans to determine if clients are ready to step down to a lower level of care.
