A Women-Centered, Long-Term Residential Step-Down

Morning Star I - Residential Reintegration offers 24-hour, long-term residential support for women ages 18 and older who are working toward a drug- and alcohol-free lifestyle. Located in Dix Hills, the program is designed as a structured, sober place to live while building the habits and support that can make recovery feel more sustainable outside a treatment setting. Most residents enter through referrals from other substance use treatment programs, such as detox, rehab, or outpatient care.

A Home-Like Environment With Clear Expectations

The program’s identity is rooted in a safe, supportive, home-like residence where daily structure is part of the work. With smoking and vaping not permitted, the environment reinforces a sober lifestyle and helps residents focus on stability, routine, and responsibility. This can be a strong fit for women who want a residential setting that feels grounded and practical, with the goal of moving forward into more independent living.

Therapy That Addresses Relapse Risk and Lived Experience

Morning Star I provides individual, group, and family counseling, along with substance use disorder education and relapse prevention support. Clinical approaches include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, contingency management or motivational incentives, anger management, trauma-related counseling, substance use disorder counseling, and 12-step facilitation. These services are intended to help residents understand substance use patterns, strengthen coping skills, and build recovery strategies they can continue using after discharge.

Reintegration Support for Work, Housing, and Daily Stability

What sets Morning Star I apart is its focus on reintegration, not just maintaining sobriety in residence, but preparing for a self-supporting next chapter. Residents can access housing services, employment counseling or training, assistance with obtaining social services, and mentoring or peer support, including recovery coaching. Transportation assistance is available, helping residents stay connected to appointments, community resources, and next-step support.

Transition Planning That Continues Beyond Discharge

Discharge planning is built into the program, along with outcome follow-up after discharge. Morning Star I also provides overdose education and access to naloxone, helping residents and their support systems prepare for real-world risk. Women who are using medications for addiction treatment (MAT) prescribed elsewhere can continue those medications while focusing on stabilizing routines, supports,
