Family-Centered Care for Pregnant and Parenting Women

Hope on Haven Hill focuses on women who are pregnant, newly postpartum, or parenting young children while living with a substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, or anger. Care is gender-responsive, trauma-informed, and guided by American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) assessments, so each woman’s level of care and goals reflect her safety, health needs, and family situation.

Homelike Environment

Residential treatment takes place in a renovated farmhouse in a country setting, with shared bedrooms and common spaces supervised around the clock. Many women enter during pregnancy or with babies and young children, and children up to about age five can live on-site with their mothers. Days follow a clear routine of group and individual therapy, parenting and childbirth education, shared meals, chores, and evening support sessions. Bedtime routines and story time help mothers practice caregiving skills while staying focused on recovery.

Flexible Outpatient and Recovery Housing

The center offers intensive outpatient programming (IOP) three mornings a week and standard outpatient counseling for women in recovery, with telehealth options when in-person visits are difficult. Childcare is available during group and many individual sessions. Recovery support housing gives women and their children a sober, structured living environment after treatment, supporting a gradual transition toward independence and community reintegration.

Trauma-Informed Therapies, Wellness, and Medications

Clinical programming combines evidence-based approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), Seeking Safety, 12-step work, and trauma-specific therapy. Medications for addiction treatment (MAT) can be incorporated into care, and the program accepts women who are already on medications from outside prescribers. Yoga, mindfulness, meditation, acupuncture, art therapy, and smoking cessation support are woven into weekly schedules.

Practical Support for Stability, Parenting, and Daily Life

Case managers can help women navigate housing, employment counseling and job training, education including GED support, and connections to medical and behavioral health providers. On-site childcare, parenting classes, breastfeeding and childbirth education, and family therapy support reunification efforts and help women strengthen their roles as caregivers.
