Women-Only Residential Care With Family-Focused Support

Naomi’s Nest provides women-only residential substance use treatment in Highland Park, Michigan, with short-term (14–30 days) and long-term (up to 90 days) options. The program serves adult women with substance use concerns and co-occurring mental health needs. It also offers a specialty track for women who are pregnant (up to the second trimester) and women who have children under 18, including support for parenting and childcare needs and help navigating custody-related steps in coordination with child protective services (CPS).

Therapy to Build Insight and Coping Skills

Women receive weekly individual sessions and group therapy, with approaches that include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), relapse prevention, and anger management. Naomi’s Nest also incorporates role play and drama therapy as part of cognitive and behavioral change work. On-site or off-site Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA), and Families Anonymous (FA) meetings are available, along with yoga as part of a holistic approach. The day-to-day structure is designed to help women recognize unhelpful patterns, practice healthier choices, and build routines that can support recovery.

Education, Employment, and Community-Based Skill Building

Naomi’s Nest pairs clinical care with practical support that can help women rebuild stability after treatment. Services include life and computer skills training, a certified GED literacy program, education-focused programming, and vocational training or educational support. The program also provides employment and housing assistance, social skills development, case management, and help connecting to social services. Community service and work therapy — such as urban farming — are offered.

Continuity of Care and Practical Access Support

For women who want ongoing support after residential treatment, Elmhurst Home provides outpatient and intensive outpatient (IOP) services for adults with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health needs, with treatment length based on medical necessity. Additional supports include discharge planning, aftercare or continuing care, peer support and mentoring, recovery coaching, and naloxone and overdose education. Transportation assistance is available.
