Charlestown Recovery Home provides a four- to six-month residential program for adult men seeking a supportive path toward lasting recovery. Operated by the non-profit Gavin Foundation, the program builds on the 12-step approach and peer accountability to help men regain confidence and structure. Residents develop a sense of belonging through shared living, routines, and mutual encouragement.

A Structured Program That Builds Stability

Daily life includes counseling, group sessions, and substance use education, complemented by relapse-prevention work and anger management. The program accommodates men using medications for addiction treatment (MAT) prescribed elsewhere, ensuring individualized and consistent care.

Developing Skills and Purpose Beyond Treatment

Residents receive life-skills and employment training to prepare for independence after discharge. Participation in community service strengthens accountability and connection to others. Support continues through discharge planning, aftercare, outcome follow-up, naloxone education, and recovery coaching, helping men transition smoothly into stable living, housing, and employment.

Set within a residential neighborhood of Boston, the home offers a comfortable, communal atmosphere with lounges, a recreation room, a kitchenette, and outdoor space for connection and reflection. On-site laundry, air-conditioned rooms, and computer workstations add practical comfort. Smoking and vaping are allowed in designated areas. The urban location keeps residents close to community resources and opportunities to practice recovery in real-world settings.
