Who is this facility a good fit for?

  • Best fit if: Parents seeking residential mental health treatment for youth ages 11 to 17; have an adolescent struggling with mental health concerns, substance use, trauma, anxiety, depression, PTSD, or emotional and behavioral challenges; family involvement and family therapy as important parts of treatment; ability to maintain academic progress during treatment as a priority; youth who would benefit from a structured environment with supervision, daily routines, and earned privileges.

  • Not a fit if: Adults seeking treatment services; individuals looking only for outpatient care; youth requiring a detox-only program; families seeking a highly specialized eating disorder treatment program.

What to expect

Developing your care plan

  • Assessment and treatment planning: Same day admissions may be available for families experiencing a crisis in some situations. Clinicians will evaluate the client's mental health history, substance use history, current symptoms, as well as the frequency and severity of concerns to determine the best route for care.
  • Individualized care plans: Treatment plans are developed around clinical needs determined during assessment. The care team may recommend a mix of therapy, family involvement, academic support, experiential therapies, and recreational activities based on each individual’s recovery.

Who you will meet with

  • Treatment team: Clients may work with licensed therapists, clinicians, and medical providers during treatment. Educational support is also provided through the Silver State Youth Academy, allowing individuals to keep up with their academic studies while receiving care.
  • Family involvement: Family participation includes family therapy, Attachment-Based Family Therapy (ABFT), and weekly visits on weekends with the intent of improving family relationships and helping with continued recovery and treatment.

Typical schedule

  • Academic and therapeutic programming: Clients participate in school through the integrated academic program in the mornings and during the day with therapy woven in. Various types of therapy can include group therapy, individual counseling, family therapy, trauma-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing, and EMDR. Afternoon and evening schedules are more directed toward experiential therapies, recreation therapy, art therapy, music therapy, mindfulness, meditation, yoga, and physical fitness activities.
  • Privileges and recreation: Recreational and social activities designed specifically for adolescents are available. This may include opportunities to engage in basketball, pickleball, games, reading, recreation room activities, and outdoor relaxation. A structured level system lets clients earn extra privileges by engaging in treatment and making positive progress. Supervised outings become available once they reach specific program levels.

Living experiences and amenities

  • Residential environment: Clients live in a home-like setting with shared bedrooms, shared bathrooms, and air-conditioned accommodations. The intention is to create a comfortable and safe feeling environment where adolescents can focus on their recovery.
  • Recreation and campus features: Recreational amenities feature basketball and pickleball courts, recreation rooms, outdoor areas, lounges with TVs, computer workspaces, and access to art supplies and creative spaces. Recreation and social activities are part of the treatment. They help encourage healthy engagement and interaction with peers.

Aftercare

  • Relapse prevention and discharge planning: Before leaving treatment, clients focus on relapse prevention plans and strategies to support their ongoing recovery. This process helps teens spot challenges, develop coping skills, and get ready to return to daily life.
  • Transition back to home and school: Discharge planning helps clients return to home, school, and family life after residential treatment. Recommendations for care and support can be included in the transition process, tailored to each teen's needs.

Pre-Admissions Experience

We conducted a series of pre-admissions calls, the most recent on May 27, 2026 to evaluate response time, transparency, and patient experience.

When we contacted the admissions team at Silver State Adolescent Treatment, the representative answered questions directly and provided basic information about programming, treatment planning, and facility operations. The interaction felt more transactional than supportive, with brief responses and limited detail unless additional questions were asked. While the representative did not come across as overly sales-oriented, they also did not display a particularly warm or empathetic communication style. The admissions experience appeared focused on providing essential information rather than building rapport or offering in-depth guidance. The representative was straightforward when discussing costs and the facility's treatment planning process, providing direct answers when asked.
