Located in Berrien Center, Sacred Heart/Serenity Hills provides medically supervised withdrawal management (detox) with 24/7 nursing support, plus residential inpatient addiction treatment. The environment is clinically focused, with structured daily programming geared toward stabilization and early recovery. On-site housing is available during residential care, with continuous staff supervision.

Step-Down Support Through Outpatient Care and Statewide Telehealth

Serenity Hills offers outpatient services both in person and through statewide telehealth, which helps clients stay connected to care as their needs and schedules change. Telehealth services are delivered through an app-based platform and may include individual, family, and group therapy; treatment planning and reviews; coordination with primary care; recovery support; and medications for addiction treatment (MAT).

Counseling Grounded in 12-Step Principles and Wellness

Services blend professional counseling with the principles and practices of 12-step facilitation. Treatment includes individual, group, and family counseling, structured groups, and educational offerings. The program also includes wellness-focused services such as acupuncture, along with trauma-related counseling and tobacco screening and cessation counseling.

Practical Recovery Supports for Life After Treatment

A key strength of this program is its focus on reducing real-world barriers that can make recovery harder to sustain. Services include case management, peer support and recovery coaching, housing support, help accessing social services, employment counseling or training, and transportation assistance. Discharge planning, continuing care, naloxone and overdose education, and follow-up after discharge support the transition beyond structured treatment. Specialized programming is available for adults and young adults, including veterans, active duty service members and military families, criminal justice/forensic clients, and people with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. American sign language services are also available for those who are deaf or hard of hearing.
