Who is this facility a good fit for?

  • Best fit if: Adults who need more structure than weekly therapy; are stepping down after withdrawal management (detox) or residential treatment; need to continue managing work, school, parenting, or family responsibilities while receiving treatment; have substance use alongside co-occurring mental health conditions; and need scheduling flexibility.

  • Not a fit if: Adults who need 24/7 supervision, residential treatment, or on-site detox; and do not have a stable living situation.

What to expect

Developing your care plan

  • Assessment and care planning: Clients are admitted after an onsite or virtual assessment, during which the appropriate outpatient program is determined and clients work directly with the treatment team to develop an individualized care plan.
  • Treatment plan reviews: Outpatient treatment plans are usually reviewed every four to six weeks. These reviews help both the team and the client reassess treatment needs and determine whether the current plan and level of care are still appropriate.

Who you will meet with

  • Treatment team: Depending on the program selected and each client’s individual needs, they may work with licensed master’s-level clinicians, individual therapists, group leaders, and assessment staff.
  • Therapy and medical support: Clients meet with an individual therapist at least once a week. Nurses may assist with medication management or other clinical needs, and psychiatrists may be involved when clinically appropriate.

Typical schedule

  • Programs and schedules: The partial hospitalization program (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs provide different levels of treatment intensity, with schedules based on each program and individual needs. Morning, evening, and hybrid options are available, with daytime programs beginning around 9:30 a.m. and evening schedules typically beginning around 5:30 p.m. Clients return home after their sessions. These scheduling options allow clients to receive treatment while managing daily responsibilities.
  • Therapies and family support: Care may include evidence-based therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing. Individual and group therapy give clients space to work on individual concerns while receiving peer support. Family education and coaching may also be available, offered virtually and in person, and may cover addiction, boundaries, communication, and family dynamics.

Aftercare

  • Aftercare planning: Clients receive a personalized aftercare plan based on their needs and goals. Relapse prevention planning is also available to help clients understand their triggers, use coping strategies, and navigate how they will respond to high-risk situations. Care coordinators may connect clients with employment, housing, legal, and educational resources.
  • Alumni support: Continued connection through the alumni association may be available after completing formal treatment, including meetings, sober social events, peer mentorship, and community activities. These offerings provide an opportunity to stay connected in recovery with peers.

Quality and Trust

A

Trust Score

The Joint Commission

The Joint Commission is one of the most trusted names in healthcare. If a rehab center has this accreditation, it means they meet strong national standards for safety, treatment quality, and staff training.

Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities

CARF reviews rehab programs to make sure they provide respectful, effective, and personalized care. For addiction treatment, CARF uses standards developed with the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), so this accreditation shows the program follows trusted, evidence-based guidelines for treating substance use.

How we research treatment facilities

Across the site, our team has conducted over 1,000 pre-admissions calls to better understand the patient experience, interviewed facility clinical leaders, performed facility background checks, and compared our information against trusted public data sources.

Our research process begins with data from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), accrediting bodies including The Joint Commission and CARF, government licensing agencies, and other trusted sources. From there, our team conducts significant original research, including:

- Pre-admissions calls: We speak with admissions staff to get a candid picture of patient experience.

- Background checks: We review complaints from past clients, media reports, actions taken by accrediting bodies, and positive recognition from notable organizations.

- Clinical interviews: We have in-depth conversations with clinical leadership, often lasting up to one hour, that give us a better understanding of clinical care.

- Data partnerships: We ingest and analyze exclusive data that provides information about in-network insurance status, cost, and more.

Research varies by facility. Each facility profile shows which research steps we completed and when each step was last performed. Learn more about our research process and background checks.

How we evaluate treatment facilities

These data help us develop a Trust Score for each facility—a simple letter grade that helps you assess how much confidence to place in a facility based on the information available to us. Trust Score considers accreditation, operating history, notable recognition, and concerns identified during our background check. Our Trust Score is an objective rating that is never influenced by advertiser payment. Learn more about our Trust Score methodology.

A Trust Score is a starting point, not a guarantee of treatment quality or outcomes. Please contact us if you would like to update or correct facility information.
