Residential Care for Substance Use and Co-Occurring Needs
The center provides medically monitored detoxification and short-term residential treatment for adults with substance use disorders, including those with co-occurring mental health needs. Services are voluntary and delivered in a residential setting with continuous medical oversight. Each client completes a medical and clinical assessment at admission to determine whether services are appropriate. When necessary, Oakdale maintains coordination with a nearby hospital for acute medical care during treatment. Both levels of care are designed to stabilize medical and behavioral needs and prepare clients for ongoing outpatient or community-based services.
Medical Withdrawal Management
The Medical Withdrawal Management program supports clients who need close monitoring and medication support to safely withdraw from substances such as alcohol, opioids, or benzodiazepines. Care includes around-the-clock nursing supervision with physician availability, along with individualized withdrawal protocols. Medications for addiction treatment (MAT) may be used when needed. Client participation in therapy during this stage of care is based on medical stability and may include individual check-ins, limited group engagement, family communication, and early aftercare planning.
Short-Term Residential Treatment
Short-term residential care is built around a consistent daily schedule that emphasizes structure and engagement. Clients typically participate in multiple extended therapy groups each day, along with recovery-oriented activities and scheduled time for meals, rest, and social connection. Clinical services include comprehensive substance use and mental health assessments, individualized treatment planning, individual, group, and family counseling, psychiatric assessment, and medication management. The program supports a 12-step recovery model and incorporates motivation and relapse prevention as core elements of treatment planning.
Recovery Support Services
In addition to clinical therapy, recovery support services play a central role in care. Clients may work with peer recovery coaches, receive mentoring support, and connect with self-help groups. Discharge planning includes coordination of continuing care, naloxone and overdose education, and follow-up after discharge. Additional supports available during treatment include tobacco cessation education, weekly art therapy, and access to a computer lab for computer-based cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT4CBT). Assistance with housing and social services may also be provided.
