Men-Only Residential Treatment In Indian Orchard
The GRIT program in Indian Orchard serves adult men in a 24-hour residential setting focused on substance use treatment alongside co-occurring mental health conditions. Operated by the Mental Health Association (MHA), the program provides a structured environment where clients can focus on recovery while remaining connected to the surrounding community. The residence is designed to feel supportive and home-like. Access to transportation and nearby community resources supports clients who are rebuilding routines, responsibilities, and independence during their stay.
Integrated Care For Substance Use And Mental Health
GRIT is built around integrated treatment that addresses substance use and mental health together. Clients work with a multidisciplinary team that includes case managers, clinicians, prescribers, and recovery staff. Services include psychiatric care, substance use counseling, and medication therapy for mental health and addiction, including medications for addiction treatment (MAT) when appropriate. Clinical approaches used in the program include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, trauma-related counseling, anger management, relapse prevention, and 12-step work. Telehealth therapy is also available as part of care.
Daily Structure, Life Skills, And Wellness
Beyond clinical services, GRIT places strong emphasis on practical, day-to-day skills that support long-term stability. Clients participate in daily living skill development through activities such as cooking groups and menu planning, helping build confidence with routine responsibilities. Wellness programming includes group exercise and nutrition education. The schedule supports accountability while allowing clients to practice healthier habits. Some clients attend school, job training programs, volunteer in the community, or maintain paid employment during treatment.
Transition Planning And Ongoing Recovery Support
Preparation for life after residential treatment is a central part of the GRIT program. Clients receive discharge planning, aftercare and continuing care coordination, and outcome follow-up after discharge. Recovery supports include access to recovery coaching, peer mentoring, self-help groups, housing services, employment counseling or training, and assistance with obtaining social services. Naloxone and overdose education are also provided. Family involvement is encouraged when appropriate, helping clients strengthen support systems as they transition back into the community.
