Overview
Residential substance use and behavioral health treatment for adolescents with on-site education and a goal-based behavioral program. There is a strong focus on family involvement and academic progress. Various treatment approaches are used, including the Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach (A-CRA), and families participate in scheduled family counseling, groups, visitation, and related activities. The program also uses a five-level behavioral modification approach where clients move from orientation through Level 5 by setting and achieving goals. The facility uses a sliding fee scale.

Adolescent residential care that integrates education into treatment
Walter D. Kelly Residential Treatment Center provides 24-hour residential treatment for adolescents with substance use and behavioral health concerns. Most teens stay 3–6 months. The facility has an agreement with the School District of Palm Beach County; clients attend on-site school and continue working toward high school graduation while in treatment. Academic progress is considered alongside changes in substance use and behavior to measure success.
A wide range of treatments
Programming addresses both mental health concerns and substance use using various approaches, including individual, group, and family counseling. Treatment may include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed counseling, and A-CRA, a brief and intensive treatment that includes parental or caregiver involvement.
A structured program with a goal-based behavioral system
The behavioral modification aspect of the program progresses from orientation through Level 5. Teens set and achieve goals to move from one level to the next, reducing maladaptive or socially unacceptable behaviors and reinforcing positive changes. On- and off-site recreation provides opportunities for teens to improve social skills, focus on teamwork, and build self-esteem.
A broad treatment team and a focus on family involvement
Families are expected to participate in family counseling and parent and family groups as well as visits and other activities. Each client works with a primary counselor who manages the case from admission to discharge, working with members of a broader treatment team. These may include the medical director, program supervisor, a school representative, and other professionals.
