Who is this facility a good fit for?

  • Best fit if: Adult women who are mothers with children ages 0–5; pregnant women; women with co-occurring mental health conditions; those needing longer-term residential support; those experiencing housing or financial instability; and those with court-ordered treatment requirements.
  • Not a fit if: Men or adolescents seeking residential addiction treatment; women requiring immediate on-site medical withdrawal (detox); mothers who need their children to move in immediately upon admission; women seeking short-term residential treatment; and those unwilling or unable to comply with a strict no-smoking and no-vaping policy.

What to expect

Developing your care plan

  • Assessment and treatment planning: Prior to admission, clients undergo an assessment to identify their treatment and medical needs. Staff may evaluate clients who need withdrawal management and arrange transportation to an outside facility when necessary. Each client is assigned a primary therapist who oversees their treatment plan and monitors their progress toward individual goals. Stays typically range from 90 days to one year and may be extended if treatment goals have not been met.
  • Approval for children to stay: Mothers who want their children ages 0–5 to live with them must first complete at least 30 days of observation. During this time, staff assess the client's mental health stability before approving on-site residence for children. Children cannot move in immediately with the client.

Who you will meet with

  • Clinical team: Clients work with an assigned individual therapist to develop their treatment plan and participate in individual counseling. Group counselors lead daily therapy and structured program sessions. Nursing staff are on-site each day for health assessments, medical intake, and medication administration. A psychiatrist visits on Wednesdays to provide mental health evaluations, psychiatric care, and prescription medication management when appropriate.
  • Practical support team: Case managers are on staff to help clients with housing coordination, aftercare planning, and access to community resources. Clients may also work with employment coaches and court liaisons who provide support with employment, financial concerns, discharge-related legal needs, and court requirements.

Typical schedule

  • Therapy and recovery activities: Treatment addresses substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions. Clients take part in mandatory daily group therapy, individual counseling with their primary therapist, and family counseling. Off-site Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings and planned community recovery activities provide additional support and community connection. Evidence-based therapies may include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and trauma-related counseling.
  • Daily routine: Clients have scheduled time for therapy and structured programming throughout the day, Monday through Friday. Nursing staff also administer medications at scheduled times during the day. Community outings may include visits to local parks. On "Fun Day Friday," residents may order takeout.
  • Family therapy and visits: Approved family members or loved ones can take part in family group therapy on Wednesdays from 7–8 p.m., followed by personal visitation from 8–9 p.m. Families may bring hot meals to share with the client. Children's visits take place on Saturdays and Sundays from 1–4 p.m.

Living experiences and amenities

  • Shared bedrooms: The 40-bed residential program has bedrooms that usually accommodate two clients. Once approved, a young child may share a room with their mother instead of another resident. The facility is not a lockdown setting, though residents must follow program rules.
  • Outdoor activities and employment: Gardens on the facility property provide outdoor space for residents to decompress. Planned off-site activities may include visits to local parks, NA meetings, and community functions. Residents cannot work, including remotely, upon initial admission. After completing 45 days of treatment, clients who have adjusted to the program may begin exploring employment options.

Aftercare

  • Housing and ongoing support: Case managers work with the Homeless Trust to help residents secure transitional housing prior to discharge. Clients may also transition to outpatient services for continued treatment. Continued recovery support includes regular aftercare check-ins. The facility may also offer financial supervision and support to help clients build savings and prepare for life after formal treatment.

Pre-admissions experience

We conducted a series of pre-admissions calls, the most recent on October 7, 2026, to evaluate response time, transparency, and patient experience.

When we contacted Reaves House, we reached an admissions representative after a short hold. They were direct and patient, explaining costs, program rules, and child accommodations without pressure to enroll.
