Short-term social detox

The center offers a free social withdrawal management (detox) program for clients discontinuing substance use, including alcohol use. Counselors monitor symptoms and provide support to clients but do not use medications for addiction treatment (MAT) in their approach. This may be a good fit for clients who need oversight and support during withdrawal management but are not at risk of medical complications. Those who need medical support can be referred to an emergency room or another treatment provider.

Groups and peer connections

Clients attend mutual aid meetings every day. These meetings introduce peers to each other and to a larger recovery community which emphasizes 12-Step meetings, sponsorship, service work, and long-term community participation. This allows clients to start building a support network for everyday life before they leave the program.

Aftercare coordination

Counselors play a role in ensuring clients leave treatment with a plan for next steps. This starts with initial assessments during which counselors gather details of clients’ needs, goals, challenges, physical and mental health, and substance use history. Based on this and progress during the program, counselors can coordinate further treatment and community resources that fit clients’ situations.

Wider treatment continuum

Dawn Farm offers a broader support network outside of its social detox program. Counselors can connect clients to long-term residential treatment, outpatient programs, transitional housing, and community outreach. Staff can also coordinate further treatment with outside providers such as medical professionals and mental health specialists when appropriate.
