Bilingual, Bicultural Residential Care For Women

Casa Esperanza - Latinas y Ninos Center is a residential program for adult women who are navigating both substance use and mental health symptoms. Located in Roxbury, Massachusetts it is intentionally designed for the Latine community and offers all services in Spanish and English. Clients live in a structured, 24-hour setting and work with a care team to build a personal care plan that reflects their goals, culture, and family needs.

Support For Pregnant And Parenting Mothers

A central focus of the program is supporting mothers who might otherwise have to choose between entering treatment and caring for their children. Latinas y Niños offers family rooms for mothers with children under age 10, as well as beds for single women. The program includes parenting education, family support services, and help with reunification or arranging visitation, so mothers can stay connected to their children while focusing on recovery.

Integrated Treatment For Co-Occurring Mental Health And Trauma

Services include medical and psychiatric evaluation, stabilization and monitoring, individual and group therapy, and access to medications for addiction treatment (MAT) when needed. Women also participate in 12-step meetings and receive peer support. Care includes trauma-related counseling, suicide prevention services, and support for clients who have experienced violence, abuse, or chronic pain.

Life Skills, Community, And Next Steps

Treatment extends beyond symptom management to address everyday stability. Clients can participate in life skills building and employment counseling or training, which can make it easier to return to work or school after treatment. Case management, care navigation, and advocacy connect clients to housing services, social services, health education, HIV and hepatitis support, and other community resources. Discharge planning, aftercare, and outcome follow-up are built into the program to help clients maintain progress once they leave residential care.

Access and Inclusivity

Casa Esperanza states that services at Latinas y Niños are offered free of charge and that clients will not be turned away if they cannot pay. The organization emphasizes non-discrimination across race, culture, language, gender, sexual orientation, family status, age, and disability, and offers language services, including support for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.
