Women-Centered, Trauma-Informed Treatment

YWCA Helena provides trauma-informed residential and outpatient care for women, including those with children. The facility’s WINGS (Women Initiating New Growth and Stability) program combines sober transitional housing with intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment for women recovering from substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. As a licensed Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program and Mental Health Center, YWCA Helena offers a structured, home-like setting that supports safety, recovery, and self-sufficiency for women rebuilding their lives after addiction or homelessness.

Whole-Person Care Focused on Stability and Growth

Treatment integrates counseling, education, and life-skills training with evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, and trauma-focused care. Group and individual therapy, peer mentoring, and recovery coaching build practical tools for long-term stability. Clients also receive case management and social service support to help with housing, healthcare, and employment navigation. The program accepts participants using medications for addiction treatment (MAT) prescribed externally and includes telehealth therapy and naloxone education for accessibility and safety.

Family Support and Parenting Empowerment

Through its Caterpillars Parenting Center, YWCA Helena helps parents strengthen family relationships and develop effective caregiving skills. The center provides eight-week parenting classes, supervised visitation, and safe exchange services, all free to residents and community members. By addressing both recovery and parenting needs, these services promote reunification and stability for families while offering children a safe environment for connection and growth.
