Residential Recovery with Community Roots

Instar Community Services operates a licensed ASAM 3.1 recovery residence for adult men in Helena, Montana. Known as the John “Scott” Hannon House, this 12-bed residence offers a stable, therapeutic environment that bridges clinical care with community reentry. Residents live on-site while participating in outpatient services and are required to engage in work or structured life-skills activities each week, reinforcing daily routines and accountability during recovery.

Peer Mentorship and Real-Life Guidance

Instar integrates peer support throughout its services. Certified peer mentors and recovery coaches help clients navigate everything from early sobriety to housing and employment barriers. This real-world guidance is especially important for those reintegrating after incarceration or navigating complex social systems. The program includes support with transportation, legal advocacy, medical access, and life planning.

Trauma-Informed and Whole-Person Care

Treatment at Instar is grounded in trauma-informed care and built to support people with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Clients have access to evidence-based therapies including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, and 12-step facilitation. Counseling is offered individually and in groups, with options for telehealth when needed. The program also accepts and supports medications for addiction treatment (MAT), whether prescribed on-site or externally.
