Residential Care in a Community-Style Setting
Located in Grand Forks, North Dakota, ShareHouse Grand Forks offers 24/7 residential care for young adults and adults who need more support than outpatient services can provide. Clients live in fully furnished, apartment-style housing, typically sharing space with a small group of peers. Separate residential areas for men and women, along with on-site staff, are designed to create a safe environment that feels like a community.
Integrated Support for Substance Use and Mental Health
The program is built for people managing substance use alongside mental health challenges. Rather than treating these needs separately, care is coordinated so clients can address both at the same time. Services can include individual therapy, group counseling, family and couples sessions, trauma-informed care, and access to mental health services within the broader ShareHouse system. Comprehensive assessments and cognitive testing are available to help guide a tailored care plan.
Daily Structure Through “Treatment University”
ShareHouse’s core residential model, called “Treatment University,” gives clients a predictable daily routine. Each person follows a schedule with individual counseling, 12-step–oriented groups, skills-focused groups, and community meetings. With more than 20 group types available, staff can match services to each client’s needs and stage of recovery. Approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, relapse prevention work, and life skills groups help clients practice new habits in a supportive setting.
Practical Help for Life Beyond Treatment
Each client is assigned a case manager and a licensed addiction counselor who help with both clinical goals and practical needs. Case management can include support with housing, transportation assistance, and connecting to social services, which can make it easier to stay in treatment and maintain stability afterward. The program also offers discharge planning, aftercare and continuing care, naloxone and overdose education, and links to community self-help groups so clients leave with a plan and ongoing support.
Amenities That Support Daily Living
Amenities include a wellness room, arts and crafts space, gaming and computer centers, and indoor and outdoor relaxation lounges. Clients have access to a fitness center, outdoor space, gardens, and a full-service cafeteria with chef-prepared meals and dietary accommodations. Residential areas offer air-conditioned rooms with a mix of private and shared options, shared bathrooms, TVs, desks, and on-site laundry. Smoking and vaping are allowed in designated areas.
