Northstar Behavioral Health’s Fergus Falls location offers a 90-day residential program tailored for adult men with opioid and stimulant use disorders. Located in a quiet area of western Minnesota, this 16-bed facility provides a high-intensity setting designed to reduce isolation and offer structure for clients facing complex mental health and substance use challenges.

Focused Care for Co-Occurring Needs

The program is designed for clients managing both substance use and mental health conditions like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, or chronic pain. Each client participates in evidence-based therapies including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and 12-step facilitation. Individual, group, family, and couples counseling foster emotional connection and long-term healing.

Designed for Underserved and Justice-Involved Clients

Northstar Fergus Falls is uniquely positioned to support men from rural communities or those involved in the justice system. The facility accepts Medicaid, IHS/Tribal/Urban funding, and cash pay, and offers transportation assistance for those facing access barriers. This inclusive approach supports continuity of care for clients who might otherwise fall through the gaps in the treatment system.

Medications for Addiction Treatment (MAT)

Clients receive on-site medication support, including buprenorphine-based treatments and extended-release formulations. MAT services are available both in-house and in coordination with external providers, and the facility also supports smoking cessation and mental health medication management.

Integrated Recovery Support and Aftercare

From the beginning of care, clients work with staff to develop personalized aftercare plans that support long-term recovery. Northstar helps connect clients with transitional housing, local recovery meetings, and continued access to medications and therapy.
