Integrated Mental Health and Substance Use Treatment

The center provides dual diagnosis treatment within a licensed psychiatric hospital, allowing for medically supervised care of both substance use and complex mental health conditions. Patients receive coordinated services including medications for addiction treatment (MAT), trauma-informed therapy, and evidence-based approaches. This integrated model is designed to ensure that both conditions are addressed simultaneously.

Full Continuum of Care in One Setting

For adults, the center offers a step-down treatment model within one facility, allowing patients to transition smoothly between intensive and less structured levels of care as their recovery progresses. Medical and psychiatric services are coordinated across all phases, from detox to outpatient care, minimizing disruption and reducing the risk of relapse during transitions. Clinicians monitor patients’ progress and adjust care plans in real time. This approach supports consistent therapeutic relationships and continuity of care.

Adolescent Inpatient Program

The adolescent inpatient program serves teens ages 13 to 17 who are experiencing acute symptoms of mental health conditions. Young people typically remain in the program for five to seven days, depending on clinical need. Admission begins with a 24/7 accessible in-person assessment, including walk-ins, to determine the appropriate level of care. Treatment involves weekly individual therapy, additional family therapy as needed, and evidence-based group sessions. The program also includes coping skills and creative arts exploration along with psychiatric oversight for medication management.

Recovery Planning and Community Support

Before discharge, patients work with a multidisciplinary team to build a personalized aftercare plan. This may include ongoing therapy, housing referrals, and assistance connecting with community services. Care staff provide naloxone education and link patients to self-help and peer support groups, including 12-step meetings, to help individuals maintain progress after leaving treatment. Case management services are also available.

Client Reviews

Feedback on North Tampa Behavioral Health is polarized. Outpatient programs, especially PHP and IOP, receive strong praise for compassionate therapists and meaningful group support.
