Healing in a Rural, Non-Clinical Environment

The facility is settled on 23 total acres of land outside of Portland, Oregon, encircled by trees and lots of green space. This setting can give people much-needed peace and quiet. People in both the residential and outpatient programs can stroll through the center’s walking paths, and spend time in nature. This can lead to a calmer experience. People have the space to connect with both themselves and others.

Full Range of Treatment Located In One Place

Medically supervised withdrawal management (detox), residential care, and outpatient programs are all provided in the same location. This means clients can move between these care levels as they are ready without having to travel between different facilities. They can keep their care teams; this can be crucial, as relationships with therapists can carry through as clients progress. This also allows for both sticking to a routine and developing more meaningful relationships in therapy. When clients are ready, staff can set them up with outside therapy and connections to sober living as needed. Case managers can also help clients find stable housing.

A Mix of Evidence-Based Therapy and 12-Step Work

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) are a couple methods that counselors focus on in their work with clients, used in both individual and group therapy. Twelve-step work is also crucial. This invites reflection and accountability, and can help clients develop long-lasting connections with others who have been where they are. Family and couples therapy are offered.

Life Within the Community

The facility structures routines within the treatment setting so clients have a predictable rhythm to their days. Meals are shared family-style; this gives clients an organic opportunity to connect with peers. Gender-specific treatment tracks are offered, so those who feel more comfortable healing with those of the same gender can benefit from this experience. Along with therapy, scheduled activities like meditation and fitness. These give clients time to exercise and unwind together — helping to develop new social connections.
