Discover Recovery Camas
Overview
Residential substance use treatment center with a significant focus on mental health. This facility has an average daily census of 15, allowing for more individualized attention. Clients receive two care plans — one for substance use disorder and one for any co-occurring mental health conditions — and have frequent one-on-one clinical contact, meeting with a substance use disorder counselor, licensed mental health therapist, and a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) for weekly one-on-one sessions. Withdrawal management (detox) supervised by a medical staff is available prior to beginning residential treatment. Proven treatments, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and medications for addiction treatment (MAT), are included in treatment alongside holistic activities, like art therapy, yoga, equine experiences, and sound healing. Immediate admissions may be available. Works with various insurance providers.

Who is this facility a good fit for?
Best fit if: Adults looking for an intensive residential program in a smaller residential setting; seeking a program with dedicated care plans that address both substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions; who prefer frequent individual sessions with multiple clinicians rather than an emphasis on group therapy; seeking detox and residential care without a long waiting list; looking for a program with comfortable accommodations but that isn’t focused on luxury; who want a structured transition into outpatient care after treatment.
Not a fit if: Adults seeking residential treatment on a large campus; who want highly independent programs with significant free time and unrestricted phone access; who prefer private rooms.
What to expect
Developing your care plan
- First steps: Treatment begins with a full psychiatric evaluation to identify both substance use needs and any underlying mental health conditions. The findings of this evaluation shape each client’s individualized treatment approach.
- Two separate care plans: Clients in this program get two care plans. One focuses on addressing substance use disorder; the other focuses specifically on mental health.
- A collaborative approach: Goals are established collaboratively with the client and the care team, and both care plans are created with input from the client. Treatment plans evolve throughout treatment as clients achieve their goals and new needs emerge.
Who you will meet with
- Substance use disorder counselor: The substance use disorder counselor serves as the primary therapist. They help clients set recovery goals and meet with them for individual counseling sessions at least once a week.
- Licensed mental health therapist: A licensed therapist also meets with clients once a week for individual therapy. These sessions may focus on concerns that are impacting overall mental health, including emotional health, trauma, anxiety, depression, and other related concerns.
- Psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner: A PMHNP performs the psychiatric evaluations at intake. Throughout treatment, they meet with clients every week to follow up and manage medications when necessary.
- Medical team: This team includes physicians and registered nurses who monitor clients during detox and residential treatment to help meet withdrawal needs.
Typical schedule
- Individualized care: Clients have weekly one-on-one appointments with their substance use disorder counselor, therapist, and PMHNP, providing each client with significant one-on-one attention.
- Typical daily schedule: A typical daily schedule includes programming from 9 a.m.–4 p.m., which includes a mix of individual and group sessions. Clients get breaks throughout the day, including for meals. Recovery meetings are held in the evenings.
- Holistic components: Holistic activities are also integrated into programming. These can include art therapy, yoga, equine experiences, and sound healing.
Living experiences and amenities
- Residential accommodations: The small residential setting (with an average daily census of about 15 clients) helps clients get individual attention while fostering connections between peers. Clients typically share a room with one roommate.
- Wellness amenities: Clients can participate in daily yoga, gym access, and spa and relaxation activities onsite. Chef-prepared meals are provided.
- Downtime: During free time, clients can read, listen to music, watch TV, or use the gym. Clients also have access to a business center.
- Phone access and visitation: Phone use is available for approximately four hours every day, split between two hours in the morning and two hours in the evening. Families and loved ones can visit on the weekend after clients have been in the program for ten days. All visitations require prior approval.
Aftercare
- Outpatient step-down options: After completing residential treatment, clients transition to step-down outpatient programming. This starts with clients attending outpatient treatment six hours a day, five days a week. Then, they progress to three hours a day, five days a week. The next step is three hours a day for three days a week, and, eventually, once weekly sessions as clinically appropriate.
- Continuing support: Alumni support and support meetings are offered, and transition to sober living may be available.
