Community-Based, Nonprofit Treatment in Duluth

Located in the heart of Duluth, Minnesota, the Center for Alcohol and Drug Treatment (CADT) offers a full continuum of care in a supportive, community-centered environment. As a nonprofit established in 1961, CADT provides medical detox, residential and outpatient services, and medications for addiction treatment. Its detox unit, gender-specific residential programs, and the Clearpath Clinic’s methadone and buprenorphine services form a connected system of care.

Comprehensive Detox and Withdrawal Support

CADT’s 24-hour Detox and Withdrawal Management program serves individuals experiencing intoxication or withdrawal from alcohol, opioids, and other substances. Each client receives medical monitoring, comfort medications, and stabilization planning. The unit connects clients directly to ongoing treatment, ensuring safety and continuity of care. With licensed nursing staff available at all times, the program helps individuals begin recovery in a medically supervised, respectful setting.

Integrated Medication Treatment Through Clearpath Clinic

The Clearpath Clinic is a defining feature of CADT, offering medications for opioid use disorder, such as methadone and buprenorphine, alongside behavioral therapies and relapse prevention. As Minnesota’s first nonprofit recovery-oriented system to integrate medication and counseling, Clearpath connects medical and psychosocial care in one setting. Pregnant individuals receive direct access to treatment and prenatal education. The clinic also partners with correctional institutions to ensure continuity of medication support during and after incarceration.

Residential and Outpatient Care With Real-World Support

CADT’s residential programs for men and women emphasize trauma-informed, evidence-based treatment and skill-building for long-term stability. Services include counseling, psychoeducation, medication management, and relapse prevention planning, with onsite access to mental health professionals and pharmacists. Outpatient programs offer flexible schedules, telehealth appointments, and specialized care for co-occurring disorders and gambling addiction. The OBOT+ program provides walk-in Suboxone inductions and telemedicine follow-up. Across all programs, peer recovery support, case management, and social service navigation help clients rebuild health, housing, and independence beyond treatment.
