EOSIS New Beginnings Men
Overview
Set in a former lake house in Waverly, Minnesota, EOSIS New Beginnings provides residential substance use treatment for men, including those with co-occurring mental health concerns. Care plans are adapted to each client and include evidence-based therapy, 12-step meetings, and medications for addiction treatment (MAT) when needed to ease cravings and withdrawal symptoms. Lakeside Men’s Residential Setting
Located in Waverly, Minnesota on the shores of Waverly Lake, EOSIS New Beginnings gives men space to step away from daily pressures and focus on recovery. Shared bedrooms, common areas, and access to nature create a communal, down-to-earth environment. Clients can spend downtime walking outdoors, relaxing by the lake, or gathering around bonfires and yard games.
Evidence-Based Therapies and Daily Routine
Care begins with comprehensive mental health and substance use assessments and a full medical history. Licensed professionals then build an individualized plan that is adjusted throughout the stay, which typically runs around 30 days, with some flexibility in length. Therapy draws on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), Seeking Safety and other trauma-informed approaches, and relapse prevention counseling. Clients participate in regular individual sessions, group and educational therapy, men’s mental health education, anger management, coping skills, health and family education, and recovery skills groups.
Life Skills, Recreation, and Community
The program is designed to help men prepare for life after residential care. Life-skills groups and male-centered nutrition lectures support everyday functioning and wellness. Recreation may include fishing, basketball, volleyball, softball, kickball, frisbee golf, shuffleboard, horseshoes, yard games, walks, gym and weight-room time, ping pong, foosball, board games, and crafts. Three meals per day plus snacks are provided, with dietary accommodations when possible.
Alumni Network and Continuing Support
Support does not end at discharge. Case management, assistance with social services, housing support, self-help groups, and recovery coaching help clients navigate housing, practical needs, and ongoing care. Clients can attend 12-step meetings such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA), and those who wish may access virtual church services or visits with a religious advisor. A long-established alumni association offers sober events, monthly speaker dinners, educational scholarships, clothing drives, and other activities, helping graduates stay connected and build a recovery-oriented community over time.
