Treatment for adults, young adults, and teens
The center provides age-specific programs tailored to the needs of distinct developmental stages. The young adult IOP addresses substance use along with age-relevant topics like stress management, organization, goal setting, identity and values, emotional stability, healthy boundaries, and building peer connections. The teen recovery group explores areas including triggers, coping skills, stress, brain development, and connecting with peers without substances. Parents join for the second half to work with teens on communication and boundaries. The adult IOP offers peer support, coping skills training, and recovery resources.
Neurotherapy
Neurotherapy specialists offer brain mapping, neurofeedback, and Alpha-Stim cranial electrical stimulation to complement care. The specialist creates and analyzes a brain map, which is used to develop a plan to pinpoint areas that may benefit from treatment. Neurofeedback is a process to retrain electrical patterns in the brain, while Alpha-Stim is designed to encourage calmer nervous-system signals. These noninvasive methods may be beneficial to clients with substance use disorders, mental health conditions, trauma, or sleep disorders.
Family involvement
For teens, parents and guardians are kept closely involved throughout treatment. Adults can also choose to have their loved ones involved when appropriate. The center offers multi-family group therapy, as well as support groups for loved ones. Family members may also meet directly with a therapist for guidance.
Referrals and aftercare
Before treatment begins, licensed therapists perform assessments of clients’ physical and mental health, history, and behavioral background. The results of these assessments help determine the appropriate level of care. If clients need treatment outside of what is provided at Caron Atlanta Outpatient Center, staff can refer them to other facilities and providers. For aftercare, clients have access to long-term recovery coaching and family meetings. These services are available even to people who did not attend the outpatient program.
