Who is this facility a good fit for?

  • Best fit if: Adults who need detox and a smooth transition into residential care; prefer a smaller, private, home-like environment; have co-occurring mental health concerns; want a choice between 12-step and SMART recovery, or to explore both; use private insurance, TRICARE, or self-pay.

  • Not a fit if: Those who require acute, hospital-level treatment; looking for a resort-style setting; need care for mental health only without a substance use component; want outpatient or self-directed care; use Medicaid or Medicare and are unable to self-pay.

What to expect

Developing your care plan

  • Quick detox access: Staff try to facilitate fast admissions for clients who need withdrawal management (detox).
  • Assessments: Before clients begin treatment, the admissions team performs a phone assessment to gather information on substance use and mental health history, medical background, and any concerns.
  • Individualized approach: Clinicians use assessment results to craft a personalized treatment plan for each client. These can be adjusted as needed based on progress.

Who you will meet with

  • Therapists: Lead daily groups and weekly one-on-one therapy sessions.
  • Psychiatrists: Provide mental health evaluations, care, and guidance, prescribing medications as appropriate.
  • Nurses: Nurses monitor clients and see to their health needs. Nurse practitioners can manage medications for addiction treatment (MAT) when needed.
  • Behavioral health technicians: Offer daily support to clients throughout their stay.
  • Case managers: Coordinate meetings and work with clients on planning for discharge.

Typical schedule

  • Detox: This phase lasts about seven days, but length can be adjusted for each individual. Medical staff supervise clients 24/7 and administer MAT as needed. The main goal is to make sure clients are safe and as comfortable as possible. Clients are not expected to engage in therapy at this time; they are given space to rest.
  • Mornings (residential): Once they wake up, clients participate in morning check-ins and take their meds when needed. After breakfast, they practice daily affirmations and reflections.
  • Daily groups (residential): Groups are held approximately 9 a.m.-4 p.m. with breaks in between. These span evidence-based therapies including trauma-informed EMDR, with topics including anxiety management, substance use and mental health education, and recovery discussions.
  • Afternoons and evenings (residential): Lunch break lasts between 1-1.5 hours. Afterward, clients participate in additional groups and peer support meetings, including 12-step and/or SMART recovery. After groups are done for the day, clients have free time. Bedtime is around 10 p.m.

Living experiences and amenities

  • Home-like accommodations: Clients stay in a comfortable riverfront home and share a bedroom with one roommate. There is a T.V. in each bedroom, and communal living rooms and dining rooms.
  • Meals and snacks: A private chef prepares three meals a day. The facility offers open kitchen access and clients can have snacks and beverages throughout the day. A coffee bar and ice cream machine are available.
  • Free time outings: In residential care, staff take clients on group outings during free time. These can include pizza and movie nights, as well as trips to the park and bowling alley.
  • Policies: Smoking and vaping are allowed during breaks.

Aftercare

  • Discharge planning: Before treatment ends, case managers make sure clients are set up for the next phase of their recovery. This includes connections to outpatient care when needed and help finding local support meetings — 12-step, SMART recovery, or others.
  • Alumni check-ins: Staff check in with clients after they’ve graduated to check in on their recovery progress.
