Accessible Inpatient Care for Women
Operated by the nonprofit South Middlesex Opportunity Council (SMOC), this is a short-term, small-scale residential program serving women with both substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. Located in the MetroWest region of Massachusetts, the program offers a safe and structured setting for early recovery. It accepts Medicaid, Medicare, and other state-financed insurance, making it accessible to women with limited financial resources. Smoking and vaping are permitted in designated areas.
Structured Support for Life After Treatment
Treatment includes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), individual and group therapy, and integrated dual diagnosis care. Residents are supported in rebuilding daily routines by participating in vocational, educational, or social activities during treatment. Additional services include case management and tobacco cessation counseling.
Connection to Broader SMOC Support Services
As part of SMOC’s larger network, COE House is connected to an organization that also operates childcare services and peer recovery programs. SMOC Childcare offers early education and care for children from infancy through age 14, with options for subsidized tuition and some transportation assistance for qualifying families. For continued support after discharge, SMOC’s Anchored in Recovery center provides peer-led recovery coaching and flexible, community-based support for individuals pursuing long-term recovery. These services make treatment and sustained success more accessible for parents seeking treatment for themselves.
