Who is this facility a good fit for?
Best fit if: Adults seeking treatment for drug or alcohol use, including those with co-occurring mental health disorders; looking for a program with a predictable routine; wanting to work with counselors with lived experience; seeking a program with integrated aftercare; looking for a program that focuses on group treatment.
Not a fit if: Adults wanting support for primary mental health conditions rather than substance use; seeking primarily one-on-one treatment; looking for a program that is not based on a 12-Step program; needing regular access to personal electronic devices; wanting frequent in-person family visits.
What to expect
Developing your care plan
- Initial evaluation: Treatment begins with an evaluation that looks at the client’s substance use history, medical history, and personal recovery needs.
- Group counseling with individualized assignments: Residential care focuses on group counseling. Clients receive individual assignments to help them examine the issues underlying their own substance use. These can help guide adjustments to treatment plans.
- Four treatment phases: Programming in the residential program follows a 4-phase structure. In phase 1, clients focus on recognizing addiction-related consequences, developing accountability, and beginning stabilization. Phase 2 is about examining harmful behavior patterns and working on judgment, decision-making, and impulse control. In phase 3, clients explore any avoided emotions and develop a spiritual foundation for recovery. Finally, in phase 4, they focus on identifying compulsive behaviors, building a recovery network, and preparing for discharge.
Who you will meet with
- Counselors: At Woodlake Addiction Recovery Center, most counselors have personal histories with addiction and recovery as well as professional training. These counselors lead group discussions and recovery education and assign and review therapeutic assignments.
- Telehealth therapists: Therapists can lead family counseling sessions virtually.
Typical schedule
- Morning: In the residential program, clients wake up and eat breakfast, followed by meditation. Group counseling sessions begin in the late morning, followed by a break for lunch.
- Afternoon: In the afternoon, clients attend Recovery Dynamics education groups for about 2 hours, where they learn the principles of the 12 Steps.
- Evening: Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings are held in the evening.
- Partial hospitalization program: The PHP typically lasts 6 to 8 weeks, with treatment frequency scheduled according to need. Clients can attend sessions up to 7 days a week if needed.
- Intensive outpatient program: Clients in the IOP attend group-centered treatment 3 days a week, with daytime and evening options available. They typically stay in this program for 3 months.
- Standard outpatient treatment: The standard outpatient program offers treatment once a week.
Living experiences and amenities
- Communal living: Clients share bedrooms and responsibilities in the facility, encouraging them to practice cooperation and accountability.
- Focusing on recovery: Personal electronics are not permitted in the residential program, and visitation is limited. Clients typically have to complete a week of treatment before they are allowed to have visitors. In-person visitation is usually limited to Fridays, and family counseling is available through telehealth sessions.
Aftercare
- Discharge planning: Discharge planning begins early on. While in treatment, clients work on identifying compulsive behaviors, building a recovery network, and preparing for life after treatment. Step-down options are available within the organization.
- Aftercare: Clients can attend weekly aftercare educational programming. Those who complete the IOP program receive a free year of aftercare.
- Sober living: Sober living options may be available for those who need transitional housing after completing treatment.

Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities
CARF reviews rehab programs to make sure they provide respectful, effective, and personalized care. View all facilities in FloridaHow we research treatment facilities
Across the site, our team has conducted over 1,000 pre-admissions calls to better understand the patient experience, interviewed facility clinical leaders, performed facility background checks, and compared our information against trusted public data sources.
Our research process begins with data from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), accrediting bodies including The Joint Commission and CARF, government licensing agencies, and other trusted sources. From there, our team conducts significant original research, including:
- Pre-admissions calls: We speak with admissions staff to get a candid picture of patient experience.
- Background checks: We review complaints from past clients, media reports, actions taken by accrediting bodies, and positive recognition from notable organizations.
- Clinical interviews: We have in-depth conversations with clinical leadership, often lasting up to one hour, that give us a better understanding of clinical care.
- Data partnerships: We ingest and analyze exclusive data that provides information about in-network insurance status, cost, and more.
Research varies by facility. Each facility profile shows which research steps we completed and when each step was last performed. Learn more about our research process and background checks.
How we evaluate treatment facilities
These data help us develop a Trust Score for each facility—a simple letter grade that helps you assess how much confidence to place in a facility based on the information available to us. Trust Score considers accreditation, operating history, notable recognition, and concerns identified during our background check. Our Trust Score is an objective rating that is never influenced by advertiser payment. Learn more about our Trust Score methodology.

A Trust Score is a starting point, not a guarantee of treatment quality or outcomes. Please contact us if you would like to update or correct facility information.
