Family-Centered Treatment

The center aims to integrate recovery and support for clients’ family lives. Women can live in a safe, residential setting with their children ages 8 and under. Mothers have access to onsite childcare and a nursery learning center where they participate in supervised parenting shifts that reinforce caregiving skills. This helps stabilize daily routines and strengthen parent-child bonds. For many women, the ability to recover with their children nearby reduces barriers to entering treatment.

Four Programs for Women’s Needs

Four distinct programs operate under one roof. The Serenity Program offers up to 90 days of residential care focused on recovery skills, relapse prevention, and vocational training that prepares women for life after treatment. The Healthy Families Project provides up to 120 days of care for pregnant women and mothers, emphasizing healthy deliveries and reunification with children. The VA Women Warrior Unit provides short-term housing and supportive services for women referred by the VA. The Transitional Living Program is designed to equip women and families with the tools for safe and independent living.

Evidence-Based and Trauma-Informed Care

Therapies combine evidence-based practices with trauma-informed approaches. Clinicians use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, and trauma-focused counseling to address both substance use and mental health conditions together. Care plans acknowledge that many women face overlapping challenges and require integrated treatment. Telehealth options are available for added flexibility. Discharge planning includes education on overdose prevention and the use of naloxone.

Long-Term Recovery Support

The center emphasizes practical support that extends into everyday life. Women participate in life skills training and vocational preparedness activities. These include job readiness and parenting workshops. Peer mentoring, self-help groups, and assistance with social services are offered. Women participate in structured daily routines, receive healthy meals, and reside in safe housing set up for family style living. By addressing real-life challenges like parenting, employment, and community reintegration, the program helps women build confidence and resilience.
