Individualized Program to Empower Men with Cognitive Impairments

This specialized program fills gaps in substance use treatment for men who are also struggling with learning disabilities, memory issues, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), or other cognitive impairments. One-on-one counseling and evidence-based therapies commonly used to address substance use are combined with therapeutic exercise—to improve strength, balance, flexibility, and body mechanics—to meet clients’ overall recovery needs. The structured schedule is paced to meet varying cognitive needs.

Rural, Peaceful Setting for Healing

The 61-bed residential facility sits in a wooded area overlooking the lake. The campus includes walking trails, gardens, a basketball court, remodeled fitness center, and plenty of outdoor space to participate in group activities. The facility’s residential program includes shared rooms with accessible showers. Nutritious meals are prepared on-site to support various facets of physical and emotional healing.

Long-Term Residential Support for High Need Clients

To best support clients facing co-occurring disorders, the residential program is supervised around-the-clock by health services technicians. Time spent in the residential drug and alcohol treatment program is curated to each individual’s needs, but typically lasts 45-90 days, with opportunities to continue on to Vinland’s outpatient and supportive housing programs.

Client Reviews

Many reviewers describe compassionate staff, trauma-informed care, and an environment well-suited to individuals with traumatic brain injuries or co-occurring conditions. Positive experiences often highlight holistic programming, access to nature, and fitness therapy.
