Long-Term Residential Treatment for Adolescent Girls

Sea Mar’s Visions Female Youth Treatment Center provides six to nine months of residential care for girls ages 14 to 17. The program integrates treatment for substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions with education, wellness, and life-skills development. The facility’s setting in Bellingham offers a calm, supportive environment where residents can focus on healing and rebuilding daily routines within a safe and structured space.

Trauma-Informed and Holistic Approach

Each resident receives individualized support through evidence-based therapies, including dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), moral reconation therapy (MRT), and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). Daily group and individual counseling sessions address emotional regulation, relapse prevention, and healthy communication. By combining trauma-informed care with physical and emotional wellness, the program helps residents develop resilience and long-term coping skills.

Education and Skill Building for Lasting Growth

Education is an integral part of treatment at Visions. Residents attend on-site classes to work toward a high school diploma or GED and receive academic and vocational guidance that supports life after treatment. Classes in nutrition, communication, and personal responsibility foster independence and confidence, giving residents tools for success beyond their stay.

Collaborative, Health-Focused Environment

Visions works in partnership with medical and dental professionals, nutritionists, and health educators across Sea Mar Community Health Centers. This collaboration ensures residents receive integrated care that addresses the full spectrum of their needs, from mental health to physical well-being. Recreational activities, 12-step meetings, and supervised outings create opportunities for connection, balance, and growth.

Accessible and Culturally Responsive Care

As a nonprofit program, Sea Mar offers services regardless of financial status. The facility accepts Medicaid and other public insurance plans and provides a sliding fee scale for eligible families. Services are available in English and Spanish, with interpretation available for those who are deaf or hard of hearing.
