Who is this facility a good fit for?
Best fit if: Adults looking for detox and residential treatment in one place; want a specialized veterans’ recovery track; willing to participate in frequent clinical therapy; have co-occurring mental health concerns; have private insurance, Medicaid, or want to self-pay.
Not a fit if: Those who need acute, hospital-level care; looking for a luxury, resort-like environment; want an outpatient-only or self-directed program; have Medicare or are uninsured and unable to self-pay.
What to expect
Typical schedule
- Detox: Clients who need to start treatment with withdrawal management (detox) receive 24/7 medical supervision and attention, with MAT when needed to make sure the process goes safely and as comfortably as possible.
- Mornings: Once clients wake up and get ready, they have breakfast with their peers. They then attend a goal-setting group before moving into the day’s clinical therapy groups and education classes.
- Afternoons: After lunch, clients attend additional groups, as well as programming such as life skills training and relapse prevention education. Rotating holistic groups, such as art therapy, yoga, and meditation, are also offered.
- Evenings: Clients have dinner together, then have time to do homework assigned to them by their primary therapist. They have some free time before evening process groups. Peer recovery meetings are also held in the evenings, with outside speakers and groups coming in to speak to clients.
Developing your care plan
- Assessments: At the start of treatment, clients are given a medical evaluation to determine their health needs. They also receive an assessment by the mental health team to go over any co-occurring psychiatric concerns.
- Client-adapted treatment: Clients are involved in the creation and direction of their care plans. During weekly individual therapy, these plans are reviewed and adjustments can be made based on progress and goals.
Who you will meet with
- Medical team: A medical director and registered nurses care for clients’ health needs.
- Master’s-level clinicians: A primary therapist is assigned to each client. One-on-one therapy takes place once each week. Trained clinicians also lead daily group sessions.
- Psychiatric staff: Work with clients who have co-occurring mental health conditions, including trauma and PTSD.
Living experiences and amenities
- Shared accommodations: Clients stay in shared rooms with TVs they can watch during downtime. The facility has shared indoor and outdoor spaces, such as a lounge and living room, where peers can gather, talk, and play games.
- Meals and snacks: Chefs prepare three meals per day. Snacks are on-hand for whenever clients are hungry.
- Visitation: Family members can visit clients during treatment. These visits are scheduled in advance with the care team.
Aftercare
- Discharge planning: Staff help each client develop an adapted aftercare plan. This includes naloxone education and overdose prevention, as well as connections to outpatient care when appropriate.
- Practical assistance: Case managers can connect clients with local support meetings, housing assistance, help navigating social services, and other community resources.
