What to expect

Developing your care plan

  • Measurement-driven care: Case managers work with clients to personalize planning based on how they progress through treatment. They may connect clients with outside resources, coordinate services, and offer other support during care transitions.
  • Various levels of intensity: Clients can transition between various levels of outpatient care as their needs change, helping them get ongoing support while continuing to receive clinical treatment.
  • A mix of clinical therapy and practical preparation: Individual therapy to address mental health is combined with group work to emphasize connection, accountability, and relapse prevention. These approaches are combined with life skills, recovery planning, 12-Step programming, and family coaching and education. Medications for addiction treatment (MAT), psychiatric evaluations, and medication management are available when appropriate.

Who you will meet with

  • Individual therapists: Clients meet with individual therapists to address substance use, recovery challenges, and mental health concerns.
  • Group therapy clinicians: Group therapy clinicians lead group sessions focused on connection, accountability, recovery skills, and other related treatment topics.
  • Psychiatric care providers: Qualified clinicians evaluate psychiatric needs and manage medication and MAT as needed.
  • Case managers: Case management services offer support for coordinating outside services, connecting clients to resources, and helping them move through different stages of treatment.

Typical schedule

  • Partial hospitalization program: Schedules vary depending on the level of treatment. The PHP meets 5 days a week for 5 hours of clinical programming per day, offering substantial support while clients continue to live independently.
  • Intensive outpatient program: In the IOP, clients attend programming for 3 hours a day, 3 to 5 days a week. Day and evening options are available, making this a flexible option for those with school, work, or family commitments.
  • Virtual treatment: Eligible clients may participate in outpatient treatment virtually, making programs more accessible for those who may face barriers to transportation or scheduling.

Living experiences and amenities

  • Flexibility: Clients seeking outpatient treatment can choose between PHP and IOP options with day and evening options. Some outpatient services may also be available virtually, providing even more flexibility.
  • Family involvement: Family education and coaching, support groups, and family meetings are also offered, helping families learn how to provide support while clients apply recovery skills at home.

Aftercare

  • Continuing support: Case managers can help connect clients to local 12-Step and SMART Recovery meetings and refer them to other support services in the community. The facility also offers ongoing support in the form of care-team check-ins, peer coaching and mentorship, and ongoing recovery meetings.
  • Alumni Association: The RCA Alumni Association hosts social events, such as movies, sports, and picnics, some of which can include family and friends.

Quality and Trust

A

Trust Score

A simple A–E grade that offers a quick view of how much confidence you might place in a facility. It’s not a guarantee of quality or outcomes, but a data-informed tool to help guide your search. More on our methodology.

The Joint Commission

The Joint Commission is one of the most trusted names in healthcare. If a rehab center has this accreditation, it means they meet strong national standards for safety, treatment quality, and staff training.

How we research treatment facilities

Across the site, our team has conducted over 1,000 pre-admissions calls to better understand the patient experience, interviewed facility clinical leaders, performed facility background checks, and compared our information against trusted public data sources.

Our research process begins with data from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), accrediting bodies including The Joint Commission and CARF, government licensing agencies, and other trusted sources. From there, our team conducts significant original research, including:

- Pre-admissions calls: We speak with admissions staff to get a candid picture of patient experience.

- Background checks: We review complaints from past clients, media reports, actions taken by accrediting bodies, and positive recognition from notable organizations.

- Clinical interviews: We have in-depth conversations with clinical leadership, often lasting up to one hour, that give us a better understanding of clinical care.

- Data partnerships: We ingest and analyze exclusive data that provides information about in-network insurance status, cost, and more.

Research varies by facility. Each facility profile shows which research steps we completed and when each step was last performed. Learn more about our research process and background checks.

How we evaluate treatment facilities

These data help us develop a Trust Score for each facility—a simple letter grade that helps you assess how much confidence to place in a facility based on the information available to us. Trust Score considers accreditation, operating history, notable recognition, and concerns identified during our background check. Our Trust Score is an objective rating that is never influenced by advertiser payment. Learn more about our Trust Score methodology.

A Trust Score is a starting point, not a guarantee of treatment quality or outcomes. Please contact us if you would like to update or correct facility information.
