A Women-Only Residential Program That Includes Mothers and Children

Women’s Place is a long-term residential substance use treatment program for adult women in Statesboro. It stands out for serving women whose substance use has created barriers to employment, housing, and parenting. The program also serves pregnant and postpartum women and may provide residential beds and child care for clients’ children, helping mothers pursue treatment without having to separate from their kids.

Practical Support for Housing, Work, and Daily Stability

In addition to counseling, the program offers support that connects directly to day-to-day stability. Services include case management, housing services, help accessing social services, vocational training or educational support, and employment counseling or training. Transportation assistance is also available, which can help clients stay engaged in care and follow-up services.

Treatment for Substance Use and Co-Occurring Mental Health Needs

Women’s Place provides substance use treatment and care for co-occurring mental health conditions. Treatment approaches include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, anger management, trauma-related counseling, and 12-step facilitation. Individual, group, and family counseling are available, along with screening and assessment services for substance use, mental health needs, and tobacco use.

Medication Support Through Coordinated Prescribing

Medication support is part of the program, including medications for mental health needs and support for people using medications for addiction treatment (MAT). Women’s Place also accepts clients who are using MAT that is prescribed through a contracted provider rather than onsite. Nicotine replacement and tobacco cessation support are also available, aligning with the facility’s smoke-free and vape-free policies.

Ongoing Planning and Recovery Support After Discharge

The program emphasizes step-down planning, with discharge planning and aftercare services. Recovery support services may include peer support or mentoring, self-help groups, overdose education and naloxone training, and follow-up after discharge. This combination helps clients leave residential care with clearer next steps for housing, work, and ongoing recovery support.
