LGBTQIA+-Centered Residential Community in Saint Paul
EOSIS - Latitudes LGBTQ Plus Residential provides residential substance use treatment for LGBTQIA+ adults (18+) in Saint Paul. The program supports all genders in an affirming setting built around safety, respect, and community, and it partners with LGBTQ+-specific community supports to strengthen connection during and after care. Its city location also supports access to transportation, helping clients stay connected to needed appointments and services.
Structured Care With High- and Low-Intensity Residential Tracks
Care begins with a thorough assessment of substance use history, mental health, medical needs, and practical factors like housing and financial stressors. Clients receive a plan that matches their needs and progress, with treatment delivered through either a high-intensity residential track (30 hours of group and individual counseling each week) or a low-intensity residential track (10 hours each week). The team meets routinely to review progress and adjust the plan as clients work toward clinical milestones.
Counseling, Medical Support, and Family Education
Treatment includes individual sessions with an addiction counselor and a mental health counselor, along with group and educational therapy. Groups cover practical and identity-relevant topics such as coping skills, self-discovery, sexuality, guilt and shame, time management, life skills, and education related to mental health, addiction, and overall health. Latitudes provides medical care and supports withdrawal management (detox), using medications to ease withdrawal symptoms and cravings, and it accepts clients already receiving medications for addiction treatment (MAT) prescribed elsewhere. Clients also have access to a weekly, clinician-led Family Education Group focused on communication, boundaries, self-care, and understanding the recovery process.
Everyday Living, Activities, and On-Site Policies
Clients stay in shared bedrooms and use common areas for groups, downtime, and community. Meals are prepared onsite, and dietary restrictions are reviewed and accommodated during admission. An onsite laundry room is available, and the program offers recreation and connection through activities like arts and crafts, karaoke, talent shows, LGBTQIA+-affirming film screenings and discussion groups, fitness activities, and volunteering. Electronics are allowed on a limited basis depending on phase of care, smoking and vaping are permitted in designated areas, and service animals are allowed with appropriate documentation. Discharge planning and continuing care planning connect clients with community resources after residential treatment.
