Detox at the center is non-medical, though it does accommodate women who are prescribed medications for addiction treatment (MAT) by another provider. A central feature is the on-site licensed childcare, allowing mothers to remain with their children during recovery. This family-centered approach ensures that treatment supports both the individual and the stability of the household.

Trauma-Informed, Evidence-Based Treatment

Services are grounded in evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, and trauma-focused counseling. Specialized programming addresses the needs of clients with histories of sexual abuse, domestic violence, chronic pain, or involvement with the criminal justice system. Virtual options for outpatient care expand access to counseling and support, reducing barriers for those unable to attend in person.

Parenting Support and Case Management

Treatment extends beyond stopping substance use to address the challenges that can hinder lasting recovery. Life skills coaching, parenting classes, vocational training, and assistance with finding safe housing help clients rebuild independence. Case managers connect women to community resources, including healthcare, education, and social services as needed. Employment counseling prepares clients to reenter the workforce, strengthening financial stability after treatment.

Peer and Community Connection

Peer support is provided by Kansas Certified Peer Mentors in long-term recovery. Mentors offer emotional guidance and information from lived experience. Group counseling and self-help meetings help create a network of shared accountability and encouragement. These connections can be critical for clients who have experienced isolation or instability to get back on a healthy life track.

Support for Mothers and Children

For mothers, recovery includes learning to navigate parenting without substance use. Staff provide hands-on guidance during daily routines, and pregnant clients receive well-baby services. Children benefit from a safe, nurturing environment in the childcare program or attend school while their mothers participate in treatment. This approach reduces the stress of family separation and helps strengthen the parent-child bond during recovery.

Continuing Care and Follow-Up

Discharge planning includes aftercare, relapse prevention strategies, and follow-up contact to monitor progress. Naloxone education is provided to reduce overdose risk. Alumni are encouraged to engage in ongoing mutual support, ensuring the transition from structured treatment to independent living is supported at every step.
